![]() This is a Windows 10 problem & absolutely everyone seems to have it! But initially I thought this is a problem with my PC only and because I never received a response from anyone on the forums I thought you guys don't have this problem. But at least I know I have done nothing wrong from my part to cause this glitch to occur. If I knew that, I would not have gone through this hassle last night installing Windows 10 Pro from a reformatted hard drive. Reinstalled Windows Update and this is happening in both Home and Pro versions. As I installed all drivers for my devices and software prior to Windows update for an experiment and this behaviour did not occur. If a fresh clean installation causes the same thing to happen then it is not a fault from my end. As soon as I installed all the Windows 10 Updates, immediately this behaviour started re-occurring again! In fact on a fresh clean version this didn't occur. I reinstalled fresh Windows 10 Pro from my previous Windows 10 Home and it is doing exactly the same bloody thing! dllhost.exe gets triggered when pressing the Start button and won't disappear from Task Manager. Maybe someone can test to see if they also get this to pop-up after repeatedly meshing the start button! This gets triggered when I press Start button sometimes, but not always! I have repeatedly made the same experiment and it always shows up with this process id! The process id is and its for WebPlatformStorageServer. ![]() ![]() It is indeed an issue followed by Windows Update. One other person has asked the same question! Just found out using Process Explorer the culprit. Only in Windows 8.1 I noticed a single dllhost after launching one of the store apps such as weather app but closing it made it disappear.īut in Windows 10 I have tried closing every single thing in my task manager separately and none of them are associated with any of these dllhosts that are being triggered. In Windows 7 and 8.1 I never noticed this sort of behaviour. I know these DLLhosts are taking very little memory, but I want to know why they get triggered and then won't go away. I tried re-registering Com Surrogate but it doesn't solve the issue. Can anyone tell me if this is normal, and if not how can I fix this? Suddenly extra dllhosts pop-up and they won't disappear after that from my task manager. I've noticed 1-3 dllhosts often get triggered when I go to either settings/control panel and other system settings. But since installing Windows 10 last week for the first time. ![]() Normally there should only be 2 dllhosts running in the background but they should close after a few seconds. ![]()
